Why MAVIS is Different!

ASTL is not the only company that can offer you speaker verification or a voice biometric system, there are several well established companies that you can find if you do a web search. However, we are the only company that offers a reliable system that can be pre loaded and run from mobile devices (including smart phones), PCs and in the very near future a SIM card.

Because of this MAVIS automatically provides an increased level of security as the user is first checked and VERIFIED as the owner (or as an authorised user of the device) before any transaction takes place or device access is permitted.

Speech Recognition Systems (word recognition) form the nucleus of most if not all of today’s Speaker Verification systems with two factor authentication being the essential element. “Something you are” and “Something you know”. It is not appropriate to go into lengthy detail on this subject suffice to say that a system with two factor authentication helps you discriminate between these types of system and a system like MAVIS.

Another feature of such systems is that they are server based and whilst it is perfectly valid to claim that such a system can work using Mobile Phones, Laptops and PC’s they offer no device owner (or authorised user) verification process at the device and application level, a critical level of security that ASTL believes is essential.

Further, even though they do offer speaker verification the resulting identifier, after you register is classed as a constant identifier and stored on a database as part of a personal or business data record for future verifications. With a constant identifier format you are still vulnerable to misuse because the identifier never changes that is unless you re register with new information, even with encryption.

MAVIS on the other hand processes a variable identifier in other words it produces a different identifier every time it’s used even though it’s the same password and it correctly identifies you. In doing so it reduces the misuse and fraud factor significantly.

Finally, MAVIS has the ability to identify an individual from a group of individuals ALL using the same password highlighting the capability of this system, it is also able to truly detect and reject recordings, even from a valid user using a valid password.

MAVIS is Multi Lingual and requires no special processing, hardware or linguistic database support.
